VCE Graduates Acknowledged

At a school assembly on 10 February, congratulations were extended and awards presented to the following 2020 graduates whose ATAR scores ranged from to 99.70 to 97.40, thereby placing them in the ‘Top Ten’ graduates of OLMC in 2020.

Two students received perfect scores of 50 – Carmel Italiano in Italian and Olivia Voulgaris in Biology – and there were some outstanding results across many subjects. The top performing students in each subject were also recognised at the Assembly. 

Principal, Judith Weir, congratulated the award winners and extended a message to all members of the Class of 2020 (to whom the ceremony was live-streamed):

To those who may be watching from home, I want you to know that when we speak of the successes of the class of 2020, we are speaking about all of you. Despite all the challenges that were thrown at you last year, you did not lose sight of your goals or your hopes for the future. You didn’t give up and you rose to the heights we knew you could reach. We are immensely proud of all that you have achieved and I hope your successes are so much sweeter because of the adversity in which they were achieved. 

Our very best wishes for where you will go and what you still have to achieve. I hope in the future when you feel anxious, disheartened or discouraged, you can recall the thoughts and actions of 2020 that allowed you to feel the strength to keep going, and that this buoys you to keep striving to be the person you want to be.
