What an incredible Term 3 it has been for our Year 7 students! As we reach the end of another busy and rewarding term, we have much to celebrate and be proud of.
Our students have achieved some wonderful results across a range of activities. We are particularly excited to celebrate the achievements of our Year 7 Aerobics students, who have performed exceptionally well, with a couple of groups earning their place at Nationals. This is an outstanding accomplishment and a wonderful reflection of their dedication and teamwork. We cannot wait to hear how they have gone and wish them every success as they take on this exciting opportunity on the Gold Coast.
Our Year 7 students have enjoyed some excellent results in DAV Debating. It has been fantastic to see students confidently developing their ability to communicate ideas, listen to different perspectives and express themselves thoughtfully. We may well have some future politicians, lawyers and public speakers in the making!
Academically, the effort our Year 7 students have demonstrated throughout the term has been impressive. Their approach to assessments, along with their commitment to their daily learning, continues to develop. We are particularly pleased to see the motivation and persistence students are demonstrating, even when learning becomes challenging.
Beyond their academic achievements, it is the growth we are seeing in our students as young people that is perhaps most pleasing. The continual respect shown towards teachers and one another is to be commended. Students are developing greater resilience and maturity when faced with challenges, and we are seeing an increasing willingness to take initiative when dealing with difficult situations. Most importantly, our students are learning that their voice matters. Seeing them speak up in a respectful manner, share their ideas and contribute positively to their community is a wonderful part of their Year 7 journey.
Another highlight of the term was celebrating their first Mercy Day. The excitement and enthusiasm shown by our students made the day particularly special. They also embraced the opportunity to perform at House Arts, with students rehearsing throughout the term and putting in an enormous amount of effort to prepare their performances. Their commitment, creativity and willingness to contribute to their Houses has been wonderful to see.
It is hard to believe that we have only one more term before we begin looking towards Year 8. This year has certainly flown by! Term 4 promises to be another busy and exciting term, with students looking forward to participating in GSV Basketball, as well as preparing for a range of assessments and continuing to build on the progress they have made this year.
We are incredibly proud of the way our Year 7 students have embraced the opportunities and challenges of 2026. We look forward to finishing the year strongly and beginning to prepare them for the exciting next chapter of their journey into Year 8. For now, we wish all our Year 7 students a restful, safe and wonderful holiday.
